SMAC puts on a number of events throughout the year. Here are a few examples of events we've done in the past:

O-Week Open House
Incoming and returning University of Chicago students tour the galleries, enjoy refreshments, and learn about the SMAC. The first 50 people receive "Care Packages" containing colored pencils, chocolate, a mini sketchpad, or other treats.
The following photos are from the 2004 Open House.

Gallery Hop
For a few hours on a Saturday, we led a special personalized tour of several downtown galleries that are within a block of each other. (Photos from 2003 and 2007 trips).

SMART Student Art Show
The annual SMAC-curated show of student artworks, ranging from videos and installations to paintings and photographs.

Smart Soundscapes
This showcase of innovative music features student performances ranging from cabaret-style singing in the lobby, classical music in the galleries, to rock and electronic music outside. SMAC has put this event on a few times to large crowds who enjoy appreciating art and music together.

FOTA Launch Party
and SMACtivity
FOTA kicks off with an annual party. A big tent is set up in the Smart Museum courtyard full of desserts and drinks, students strut in the fashion show, and SMAC hosts a small activity in the interim.

Anchor Graphics

Members of SMAC traveled to Anchor Graphics, a printmaking studio, to learn the secrets behind the art. They received a special tour of the facilities and hand-made prints of their own using the techniques they learned.
